The main goal of this study is to get a closer view of teachers’ professional identities from the perspective of interaction in the language classroom. The discourse setting was taking from a group of 20 adult learners, 19 females and 1 male studying English in a monolingual Spanish context. The teacher appears as an experience professional who displays a friendly environment where students laugh and there is communicative encouragement. Three extracts of classroom observation where analyzed the issues were emerging with the turns took by the participants. When some other issues emerge about the focus of research and the methodological concerns, which inform empirical analysis, the differences start to appear. And why do we study English? In the center, an image is representing a person showing from the inside of his mind many exemplifications of languages and around the picture, the different answer to the questions. RESEARCHING CLASSROOM DISCOURSE Researching classroom discourse can be a good idea for teachers to become active reflective practitioners, become researchers of their own contexts. Classroom discourse can give teachers a great understanding of their environments and ideas about how to improve processes that enhance both, learners and teachers developments. In this chapter three important elememnts are mentioned, the context, data, and interaction.
